Perhaps one of the most dangerously-situated crews in the union, the EXCAVADORAS are a SUBTERRANEAN gang that travels by way of a vessel modeled after the GIGANTIC DRILLS that dug the Chunnel under the sea between England and France. The cylindrical vessel is capable of boring passage through the earth’s continental crust and rigid upper mantle, which comprise the LITHOSPHERE.

Due to the nature of this crew’s mode of travel, their geo-political reach has limitless potential. The Excavadoras prefer to temper the inherent HAZARDS of their work by devoting themselves to field of GEOLOGY—each pirate on this crew is a certified subterranean engineer or geoscientist with expertise in the composition, structure, physical properties and dynamics of Earth materials, and the processes by which they are formed, moved, and changed. All this means that the union crew facing the most potential danger is also most adept at mitigating natural hazards.

Based in a series of outfitted caves in South America, the Excavadoras specialize in UNSANCTIONED MINERAL EXTRACTION but also raid mines, coal pits and other targets as discovered (the true destination never being known until the vessel breaks ground, with the aid of adapted magnetometers and gyroscopes to avoid populated areas).
